The elongated leaves of the Schefflera plant liken its shape to that of an umbrella. Thus its nickname, the Umbrella Tree, makes a lot of visual sense.
Characteristics: Small, glossy leaves. Perhaps the most fascinating thing about this plant is the fact that it acts as a natural air freshener and detoxifier. The leaves expectedly release oxygen, but they also absorb pollutants from the air.
Light: Schefflera prefers bright, indirect light. Never place a schefflera houseplant in direct, full sun as this will burn the leaves.
Watering: You can wait until the soil in the pot dries out and then thoroughly soak the soil when you water. Yellow leaves is a sign of overwatering.
